Ayurveda & Yoga

Ayurveda and Yoga therapy includes the AGASTYA (Ayurveda drugs, Gut therapy, Ayurveda Standards of living, Training of parents and Yogic Assistance) protocols for Autism, Kottakkal protocol for Developmental Disorders, AyuCALM (Ayurveda Centre For Autism And Learning Disability Management) protocols for Learning Disabilities, all developed by Dr Dinesh K.S (Professor, Department of Kaumarabhrthya Vaidyarathnam P.S. Ayurveda gives us the knowledge of how to live by adapting to the changes in our environment by modifying our lifestyle according to the time of the day and changes in season especially with regard to food, exercise and rest. It has curative aspects as well as preventive aspect, and includes the use of herbs and other medicines along with procedure based therapies and Lifestyle modifications.

Yoga is a technique about how to keep in proper shape our physique, breath and mentality, so that we are always in a constant state of awareness, thereby increasing efficiency. It imparts the basic principles of life ( Yama Niyama), postures (asanas), breath regulations ( pranayama), how not to get troubled by the surroundings ( pratyahara), focussing ( dharana and dhyana) and how to attain a state of bliss and health ( samadhi).

Multidisciplinary Therapies

Speech therapy

The speech therapy services include a diagnostic evaluation and treatment designed to improve speech impairments (with regard to the function of articulation, language voice and / or fluency) or a dysfunction of a related impairment such as difficulty in swallowing. Speech therapy can help with so many more skills pertaining to communication, both oral and written.

It improves the speech intelligibility, development of pre literacy skills and practical social skills, and the achievement of school readiness skills.

This specialized treatment can assist with relationship building, brain development and can improve overall quality of life.

Physiotherapy

The main aim of Physical Therapy in pediatric physio is improving motor skills and make them independent in moving with or without supportive devices. Physical therapy will lead to a better quality of life. Early identification and early physical therapy treatment will make in better result in congenital musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. The Brain have a capacity of neuro plasticity up to the age of 6 so after the six years of age it will become very difficult in making a good result in certain types of conditions. Continuous pediatric physical therapy in first 3 year of age is very important.

Behavioral Therapy

Behavioral Therapy aim is to modify maladaptive behaviors and substituting it with an adaptive behavior. The foundation of Behavioral Therapy is based on the idea that all behaviors are learned and the unhealthy behavior can be changed. The therapy is deliberately intended to remove modify or retard the existing symptoms, mediate the disturbed pattern of behavior and to promote positive personality grow and development. An active role of the client is expected to have a better therapeutic outcome.

Sensory integration Therapy

Sensory integration Therapy involve specific sensory activities to help a child appropriately respond to light, touch, ,sound, ,smell and other input. Interventions may include swinging, brushing, playing in a ball pit and many other sensory related activities. The outcome of these activities may be better focus, improved behavior and even lowered anxiety.

Education Therapy

Educational Therapy is a form of therapy used to treat individuals with learning differences, disabilities, and challenges. This form of therapy offers a wide range of intensive interventions that are designed to resolve learner’s learning problems. These interventions are individualized and unique to the specific learner. This type of therapy helps the student strengthen his/her ability to learn. The student engages in activities that help their academics comprehension, as well as, teach them skills in processing, focusing, and memory. There is a difference between traditional tutoring and educational therapy. Traditional tutoring deals specifically with academics while educational therapy deals with both the processing of information and academics. The educational therapist uses a variety of methodologies and teaching materials to help the student build on his/her academic competency.
